OSHA Brings Back Safe + Sound Safety Awareness Week

OSHA is encouraging workplaces to participate in its annual Safe + Sound Week, from August 13-19. The purpose of the week is to promote the importance of safety awareness & health programs. Nationwide events and programming focus on management leadership, worker participation, and finding & fixing workplace hazards.

More than 200 workplaces have partnered with OSHA to host educational events on the importance of health and safety programs. Getting involved shows your commitment to protecting your workers.

How To Get Involved

Visit the Safe + Sound Week website to select what activities your workplace will be participating in, and to get resources for planning and promoting your event to your community. OSHA will recognize participating businesses with a downloadable certificate and web badge, which can be displayed on your company website.

Choose event topics and activities from each of the three main categories of Safe + Sound week for a well-rounded program:

• Management Leadership: The top of an organization sets the example for valuing safety awareness and health. Participate in management leadership events to visibly show dedication to this core organizational value.
• Worker Participation: Engage your workers and show them they are a valuable partner in establishing health and safety in the workplace. They are the experts on their jobs and may have knowledge and innovative ideas on how to improve health and safety.
• Find and Fix Hazards: Make the goal of establishing procedures to identify and control potential health and safety hazards. You can spotlight hazards and even take steps to implement a medical surveillance program.
