The Standard
On Sept. 23, 2017, OSHA’s new crystalline silica rule — 29 CFR 1926.1153 — went into effect for the construction industry. The permissible exposure limit for crystalline silica will be 50 micrograms per cubic meter — one-fifth of the previous maximum — of air over an 8-hour, time-weighted average. On June 23, 2018, General Industry & Maritime workplaces, in which about 295,000 workers are currently exposed to respirable crystalline silica, and Hydraulic Fracturing, will also need to comply with the new silica rule – 29 CFR 1910.1053. Worksite Medical® will get you the medical surveillance testing you need to stay compliant.
